Tressel Resignation

Today was a very low day in the history of Ohio State. Waking up to the news of Jim Tressel was upsetting, but over the recent weeks it seemed rather inevitable and it was just a matter of when, not if. He has brought me some of the greatest memories of my college career and I really looked up him as a person, leader and face of the university. My opinion hasn't changed much because I feel very strongly that he was doing what he felt was the right thing for the institution and was brought down by student athletes who felt entitled. I won't get on that soap box. When big moments happen I always think about if I have photographed that person/event, and this was an obvious situation where I had. So this time I decided to look and see the last photo I took of Tressel as a coach at Ohio State (on the field, not the press conferences this spring) and came up with this photo from the trophy ceremony at the Sugar Bowl.

I am ready to move on and I'm excited about the future, I just know this fall is not going to be like anything else in my 21 previous years.

On a separate note, I found field guide to photographing DC with maps and stuff to help you get some sweet shots. I'm on the fence about it because I don't want to copy but at the same time it looks like they have some pretty sweet shots marked out. I can get it on the iPad so I may go a few weeks without using it and call in backup if I'm struggling.

Canvas Printing

Happy (even though I'm sad because of Tressel) Memorial Day.

I rarely take time to appreciate my photos for the 'art' that they really are. Looking at them on the screen is one thing but bringing them into a tangible world is awesome. Check out my canvas print I had made of the quad Script Ohio from the Marshall game in 2010. I highly recommend Canvas on Demand, their customer service is awesome and quality is unbeatable. I have seen the canvas prints from Sam's club, the quality isn't even close. CoD makes it so easy to hang the prints. (They also have a groupon every few months for a cheap print, so take advantage if you see it)

Moving to D.C. in 17 Days

Finals week of spring quarter has been kind of exciting over the past few years. Freshman year I was looking forward to getting back and working a lot at Brookside, last summer I was really excited about working at M/I Homes on the internet marketing team, this summer is unlike anything I've ever done before. I went to college about 7 miles away from home, so I've never really had the chance to get away. I will be packing up and moving to Washington D.C. on June 11th to work at National Geographic to work on their web photography team.

I found a house on craigslist right off of Georgetown's campus, it looks really cute based on the google maps street view. The house has a weird setup, one three person bedroom and one, one person bedroom. I will be living with a friend from high school and a friend from The Lantern, they are both great people so it should be a lot of fun. Every person who I describe the location of the house to tells me how awesome of a place it is, so I'm super excited to see first hand.
